Over the last two days we have seen two disturbing threads that that highlight the scale of the crisis being faced by the criminal bar.

As of 31st March, criminal solicitors all over Scotland will no longer take on court appointments for those accused without lawyers who are not allowed to represent themselves.

Ben Smitten, leading Nick Murphy, secured the acquittal of an Essex businessman accused of conspiracy to defraud. Following a four day section 8 argument, the prosecution offered no evidence. Ben and Nick were instructed by Mike Warren of THB Solicitors.
