The blurb for Helen Heckety ‘s novel Alter Ego says “unputdownable” and having stayed up till 3am with it, can confirm. It’s out next month and it’s definitely one of my books of the year.

I am only 82 pages into this and I can already tell how important a book it's going to be. It's so refreshing to see a disabled protagonist, who isn't just a novelty or tick box exercise. Hattie is absolutely gorgeous! 📚Alter Ego Helen Heckety out in July Dialogue Publishing

WOW 💓 A challenging, sad, profound & life-affirming debut that left me in tears, asking, ‘What can I do to change things?’ I wish there were more characters with disabilities in fiction - we need them 👏🏻 Thank you christina demosthenous Helen Heckety Dialogue Publishing

"Lionhearted in it’s exploration of disability and what it means to live with an indelible fate. Helen’s eloquent writing just hurts at times—but how it heals, too. ALTER EGO is a seriously funny and heartwarming book." Helen Heckety Dialogue Publishing 💗🛖🌲 ♿🥹 prettylittlememoirs.com/alter-ego-by-h…

Thank you Helen Heckety for bringing us the unique, and wonderful Hattie and giving us a #book that those living with an #invisibledisability can see ourselves represented in which is sadly such a rarity. I resonated with the book and the struggles and frustrations Hattie faced.

This by Helen Heckety may well be my book of the year. It starts in a whimsical almost ‘rom com’ tone but quickly sheds light on big life lessons by blending humour and drama. The structure moves the present narrative whilst filling in the back story and ends just right.

✨Book Review✨ #AlterEgo by Helen Heckety An incredible debut exploring inclusivity and self-acceptance that had me feeling all the emotions - not to be missed! Thanks christina demosthenous & Dialogue Publishing for my copy. bookswithdansamend.wordpress.com/2024/08/08/%e2…
