Congrats to Hieu Le, for getting asymptotically close to graduating with his PhD ProperData Frontier UCI EECS. Hieu's thesis work makes significant contributions to automating the generation of ad-blocking filter rules.

Electronic monitoring smartphone apps are increasingly being deployed to monitor people on probation, parole, release from pretrial/immigrant/juvenile detention, etc.

To this day, ad blocking filter lists are mostly manually curated by dedicated ad blocking community members. Filter lists authors do an applaudable job at generating filter lists but this process is laborious and does not scale well to a large number of sites or over time.
