🚨BREAKING: Almost 1 in 5 people claiming Universal Credit and disability benefits have used a food bank in the last month. Hunger and hardship are already at record levels, and social security cuts risk pushing even more people to food banks.

Carers should never have to worry about whether they can afford food on top of everything else 💔 When we face tough times, our social security system should provide just that - security.

We're still overwhelmed and thankful for the response we received from the #40acts community on Friday! Over 550 brand new donors found our website, and together gave £30,000 to meet the needs of 187 individuals and families on our website.

We had a team from @catch22charity helping out today. Great to meet partner organisations! They got stuck in building flatpack shelves, sorting purchases/donations & packing food parcels. Here they are sorting donations from @colfesschool - massive thanks for your support.

Did you know that Lewisham Foodbank is registered with easyfundraising, so over 8,000 retailers will now donate to us for FREE every time you use easyfundraising to shop with them. We have raised just under £500, at no cost to the shopper! No brainer. shorturl.at/2u2oA

Throughout April we fed 1,454 people, nearly half of whom were children under the age of 16. We continue to rely on your support and are so grateful to you. We were donated enough Easter Eggs to ensure that every child received a treat which is amazing. #ThisMonthWeNeed

Some of our staff team are attending the annual @trusselluk Roadshow. It's always worth remembering that attending a food bank is far more than receiving a food parcel. Feeling welcomed in a non-judgemental environment makes all the difference to a visitor's sense of worth.

Places where children can eat for free or nearly free during half term

On a windy Wednesday morning, our Warm Welcome UK @warmwelcomeuk.bsky.social space will be open from 11-3pm. Fast WiFi, free refreshments and excellent company - when you arrive! The work spaces will be here, as will the prayer and chat spaces. ALL AGES WELCOME!
