24 YEARS AGO TODAY! The iconic image of the F2 tornado that moved along the beach in Myrtle Beach on this date in 2001. My weather office was at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion at the time and it went right over me. This tornado had winds estimated at 150 mph. 36 people were injured.

As usual, it was feast or famine when it came to rainfall. Hartsville saw less than 0.1", while Tabor City recorded over 5.5". A wide swath of heavy rain stretched from Longs and Loris up through Tabor City and Lumberton.

Check out this ominous looking cumulonimbus cloud that passed over Surfside & our beaches a short while ago! This shower was associated the remnants of #Chantal , as we get the backside of the low-pressure system. Great video, Cathy Kelley! #Chantal #surfsidebeach

Please keep everyone involved in the ongoing devastating flooding in Texas in your thoughts and prayers this evening. At least 83 fatalities have been confirmed with lots still missing. This is truly a once in a generation tragedy. So sad. 😔❤️‍🩹 #TexasFloods #TXWX #flooddisaster
