The 12-day strike against King Soopers (Kroger) has ended in a return to the bargaining table with a 100 day extension. After nearly two weeks of 12,000 workers shutting down 77 stores across CO, workers won the battle — now, it’s time to win the war. 🧵 ew4d.org/blog/local7-st…

Most importantly, Colorado contracts are lining up with other major grocery expirations across the country. We saw how scared the company got when 12K workers were on strike. Now imagine how afraid the company will be when over 130K workers are bargaining their contracts at once.

After a 12-day strike, grocery workers across Colorado won 100 more days to win a fair contract. That gives us a chance to build a national bargaining table for 130,000+ grocery workers across the U.S. whose contracts are expiring in the next 3 months. Here's what's at stake:

Last week, we took action because America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist oligarchs who undermine our democracy. Worker power has saved us before—let's do it again. #SaveOurServices.

My latest for Labor Notes, on the UFCW members who voted down their contract by a whopping 74%, bucking leadership's recommendation for a 'Yes' vote. labornotes.org/2025/06/kroger…

For grocery workers who worked through COVID like Tari Blevins, a front-end cashier in Indianapolis, the tentative agreement felt like a slap in the face. “During COVID, we had million dollar [sales] weeks,” Blevins said. “We had customers fighting in the aisles over product.”

We need more strike songs like this one by Thomas Graves, in solidarity with his fellow Safeway workers in CO on strike right now w UFCW Local 7. "Drive up shoppers bust their backs/While corporate cash just stacks and stacks Who stocks the shelves? We do!"

To organize the “vote no” campaign, grocery workers “gave out flyers at their home stores and neighboring stores that included information about the contract and a QR code that took you to a Zoom link for members to get together and discuss next steps.” labornotespodcast.podbean.com

UNITED WE BARGAIN, UNITED WE'LL WIN! On strike at Safeway in Colorado. Fighting for fair contracts in California, Indiana, and more. Now more than ever, we need grocery worker solidarity on a national scale — in this year's contracts and in every contract to come.
