This conversation is so smart in both historical and sociological terms that I couldn't resist sharing it w my subscribers at S*bst*ck. I can't think of anything more worth reading in the aftermath of yesterday's chilling Hegseth-Trump event with the generals in Quantico, VA.

It's really remarkable how close the anti-side of the fascism debate was to just repeating the formulas of the Third International

Can't recommend John Ganz's "When the Clock Broke" enough. Finally someone has written a Rick Perlstein-style book that serves as a "fossil record of Trumpism". This one covers Bush 41's Administration and I really hope he's working on another volume for the rest of the 90s

Stop what you're doing and read this reflection on Percy Sutton, Eric Adams and the state of Black political power in New York by Basil A. Smikle PhD. vitalcitynyc.org/articles/percy…

This does not speak in your favor at all. It's an embarrassment, really. The publication and the lion's share of those writers became totally gleichgeschaltet by the end of the first Trump term.
