We expected this but rising energy bills will pile more pressure on families already facing hunger, hardship & debt. And on foodbanks already at breaking point. Government must use their first Budget to protect those facing the worst hardship. We need urgent action.

🚨 BREAKING: The Household Support Fund has been extended! This extension will provide some relief to families on the lowest incomes this winter. People have told us that this support has meant that they can pay for energy bills, transport or buy essentials, like bedding.

📣 Labour promised to end the need for emergency food. So we hosted an event with @JRF_UK today at the Labour Party Conference to urge them to act on this promise. We need the government to take urgent action now to make sure everyone can afford the essentials. #Lab24

This looks brilliant! I can see this swallowing a lot of my time, even though I have no idea when it would ever be useful for me.

Really interesting and important role here Trussell. If you're interesting in doing policy development work on either employment support or disability and sickness benefits (or know someone who would be) please take a look/share. trussell.org.uk/jobs/policy-ma…

Chancellor confirms continuing with the planned cuts to disability benefits set out under the previous government. If done in the same way means 400,000 disabled people miss out on £400 support per month. Has almost no effect on employment. Bad news. #AutumnBudget

🚨 The new government committed to end the need for emergency food. With 9.3 MILLION people facing hunger and hardship, today’s Budget was a major moment to start delivering this. 👀 So, what was said? #Budget2024

This statement from Liz Kendall confirms that LHA will not increase in 2025/26 and it sounds like it won't be revisited at the Spending Review in the Spring. This actively costs poorer private renters, and will work against the govts goals to end homelessness and food bank use.
