⚠️ Flow from the fluvial River Thames has risen rapidly today, and is forecast to rise further over the next 48 hours. Although we’re now in neap tides, the low pressure system that brought the snow/rain is also forecast to generate a small surge over next few days.

You’ll have to trust me with this as it’s a terrible picture, but at least a couple of harbour porpoises are currently swimming upstream of the #ThamesBarrier. First time I’ve seen them here.

Last Sunday's morning mist gave an atmospheric air to Jim Four's photo downriver from Greenwich Yacht Club, past the Cemex mooring point towards the Thames Barrier. He used a Nikon800. New members are very welcome to attend our Tuesday Club Nights.

The #ThamesBarrier is operating today for the January test closure, our first closure of 2025. The river will be closed to navigation from 09.50 until around 12.20 while we operate the 10 gates.
