It’s hard not to have bad anxiety thinking about the future of publishing. Most agents work without salaries, we get paid when publishers want to buy (same for authors). Only the most privileged can ride out the belt tightening phases. Many BIPOC agents will leave as a result.

Clearly you have never been to movie theaters in Korea and Japan. They were doing assigned seats long before the US and have a way broader range of snacks available. I will say I do like that the US has upped its game with fancy reclining seats, which is great for my back.

Reminds me of when I lived in Japan and I stayed in the hospital for a week due to colitis. A week’s stay with all the testing and medication was less than $500. Meanwhile, the time I stayed 3 days in a hospital in NYC, they tried to charge me $30k.US fails in healthcare so much.
