The old and the new. In the foreground are the beautiful, historic Hopton Almshouses. The Hopton Almshouses were built in 1752 with money left by philanthropist Charles Hopton. They are still run as almshouses today by a charity.

The atmospheric undercroft of Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, constructed 1623. This was a place of burial but also, in the 18th century, people used to leave their unwanted babies here for them to be looked after by the Inn. The babies were then usually given the surname ā€˜Lincoln’.
