Now this is amazing! The oldest half timbered church in Europe, built in the 14th century and still in use today. The roof was lowered during renovation work in the 19thC but the ancient frescoes are still in evidence.

It’s amazing just how crystal clear today has been. I could see the Isle of Man with the Irish coast beyond as well as the whole of the Scottish Galloway coast. And inland the full majesty of the Lake District was laid out against a medley of blue skies and fluffy white clouds.

Robin Hood’s Bay looking quaint & lovely in the sunshine. It must have once been a very wealthy fishing village given the quality of the houses. It’s lovely wandering the narrow ginnels but sad it’s just a holiday village, altho it would have fallen into ruin without tourism.

What a glorious morning to wander slowly down to the water’s edge to have a lazy cuppa at the YHA cafe. Perfect â˜ș

I’ve finished the embroidery that I designed for an upcoming exhibition at the Florence Arts Centre in Egremont on the west side of Cumbria. It’s part of a collection of embroideries celebrating Cumbrian Wrestling. Paintings by Jan Moss & Chris Routledge headline it.

This isn’t wild camping - it’s illegal dirty camping that shows no consideration for others or any sense of responsibility.

This is illegal! Paddle boards are banned from Rydal Water & we never saw them on there until recently. Please follow the rules & only use them on the lakes where they are allowed. Let the wildlife live in peace in the few places they have left.

Deeply incised valleys, picture-perfect half-timbered cottages, birdsong-filled woodlands, and a picnic supper (leaving no trace) on a sun-drenched hillside - what’s not to like about the Long Mynd? â˜ș

I had these made for the ride in August - a little reminder of why we’re doing it. You can donate to the charities here: givewheel.com/fundraising/67
We are raising money for Mind, Sustrans and Flight Free UK. Tim always said “no bad days on the bike.”

Donated. These are such good causes. I miss seeing Tim’s updates on his cycling travels. And if you’ve a bike you can join the ride

Open this week! Amy Bateman 's superb Forty Farms exhibition – which has been touring the country – has come home to Cumbria, at Whitehaven's The Beacon Museum . Another chance to see Amy's photos on the wall.
