Biggest crowd yet in Istanbul on day 5 of protests. Opposition leader Özgür Özel announces daily protests at 8:30 PM in every city across Turkey until İmamoğlu is released. There will be cooperation with civil society, student orgs and other political parties.

On Day 5 of the Turkish protests, the police have taken to beating protesters they can catch. The scene below is reminiscent of how they behaved during the 2013 Gezi protests. The goal, of course, is to scare people enough that on Day 6 they stay home. But it can backfire.
