I’m thrilled to be here at the African Investigative Journalism Conference at Wits University this morning! Today I’ll be listening to a panel hosted by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who is talking about the topic of his undercover journalism work.

The session is kicking off with a talk from Edward Adeti on the widespread theft of medicine in Ghana, which he investigated in the last year.

Thanks to Edward’s work, 34 boxes of medicine were recovered from the syndicate and 3 suspects were arrested. However, later on, 2 potential witnesses to the court case against the drug syndicate were poisoned and died.

In the aftermath, there has been some improvements to hospital security, but the legal case is still ongoing and has encountered its own issues.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas has taken to the stage. He is recounting his investigations and explaining the results of them. He says he is focused on the impact of his journalism - to affect good on society.
