After a week filled with disappointment, I was chuffed to find out today that I had received the #oxfordvaccine as part of the Oxford Vaccine Group incredible work in the summer. I now feel safer, I was well looked after, I was pleased to have been a research participant - for once!

Frustrating red tape. I am a trained #vaccinator in my trust and registered nurse. Applied to immunise as a volunteer locally on days off. I have now submitted three lengthy repetitive applications, two occupational health forms, a new DBS, references... I'll keep trying! 🤷🏼‍♀️

And while I'm moaning, let's make vaccination clinics in hotspots 24/7. I would get my loved ones out of bed and get them jabbed at any hour of the day (there's nothing else going on!)

Awesome way to end a busy week! Shout out to all the research nurses who are being pulled in so many directions but still continue recruiting - we see you! 💪

Travesty that five weeks after completing my vaccination training and applying to London Borough of Harrow to support local efforts this nurse is still no nearer. Red tape+ pointless bureaucratic exercises - which the past year has taught us to remove! Hope to start soon! @GarethThomasMP

Both daughter's had GA's within the space of 5 days; astounded at the level of care given by staff. The NHS truly is the most wonderful of institutions- to be on the recieving end of care is so awful; but they absolutely pulled it out the bag both times🙌now for recovery! (+Wine)

4 to go till we hit 1.5k randomisations for Oxy-PICU! 🤯 Which team will get a hump-day-pizza-party to make the week a little nicer? Funded by the ever generous @pus27 🍕🍕

I am presuming I can deliver by hand.. 🍕😋 Well done to everyone for an amazing effort - 1500 randomisations is truly incredible! 🥳🤯

Provisions needed to ensure critical staff can get to work, then I can support TfL strikes. Be it from NHS organisations or TfL themselves. I will stand with you if we can ensure our pts are safe. 2+ hr commute from zone 5-1, still going!

Into my 3rd hour of commute. For the 3rd morning this week. I consoled a crying teacher - Telling essential workers to plan ahead or cycle is incredibly insulting! Many of us we live in affordable zones which rely entirely on tubes.

Incredible week to be an ICU Research Nurse. Closed Oxy-PICU nationally to recruitment (thanks to families & colleagues) fab day at Paediatric Critical Care Society SG - RNs can achieve amazing results for game-changing studies! Whoever said it was an easy route?! #researchrocks #researchnurse

Incredible to be in Phoenix, Arizona seeing @pus27 present Oxy-PICU at #SCCM - a true lifetime achievement and a testament to both the quality of the trial & the results! Well done to the research teams, and thank you families & patients.

Great day at @GoshOrchid conference where we presented on the inequalities looked-after children face when being screened for clinical research. Great speakers throughout! Last conference for a while as I take up my new post soon.. a lovely one to end on. Well done all!
