In 2023, Antarctic sea-ice extent fell to more than 6.6σ below the 1991-2020 mean. Last year it reached 5.8σ below the mean. As of yesterday, Antarctic sea-ice extent was 3.5σ below the 1991-2020 mean, ranking third lowest for the day. Tough times down under.
