RESEARCH: New work with Paolo De Coppi and Dr Claire Smith UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health out Biomaterials. We perform decell and recell of rat lungs with human airway basal cells, creating a novel RSV infection model. Introducing human neutrophils to the system is also feasible. 1/2

AI model could predict lung cancer risk using a quarter of the information needed by current models. The findings from Prof Sam Janes Lungs for Living & Dr Tom Callender DoM_UCL UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences with Mihaela van der Schaar Cambridge University could simplify national screening ucl.ac.uk/news/2023/oct/…

Incredibly honoured that our work has been recognised! Our work is computational, focussing on using data to understand cancer - we are entirely reliant on wonderful collaborators and public data. (& generous funders Wellcome CRUKCOLcentre CRUK Lung Centre Rosetrees Trust)

Celebrating the careers of Stephen Duffy and Jack Cuzick is making me think of these 4 brilliant women who all died before we could do the same for them. Remembering Jane Wardle, Wendy Atkin, Anne Szarewski and Louise Cadman and their huge contributions to cancer research

It was a great honour to present this awareness to Prof Mick Peake 15 yrs ago and then to receive it myself last night from Mick was awesome (and unexpected!) Thanks so much BTOG. BTOG has done so much to advance lung cancer in the UK

🚨 New preprint! With Lungs for Living and UKRMP Engineered Cell Environment Hub colleagues, we performed phenotypic screening to identify compounds that might promote lung regeneration by inducing primary airway basal cell proliferation. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Here's a 🧵 breaking down our findings:
