Extremely interesting presentation by Henning Wackerhage from TUM Exercise Biology Group about the link between muscle growth and insulin resistance. Well done! with with Moritz Eggelbusch at Sports, Medicine and Health Summit in Hamburg

It was extremely nice to meet international colleagues and present our latest long-COVID results at Sports, Medicine and Health Summit. Also Moritz Eggelbusch did a great job in presenting his PhD work on physical inactivity. Hamburg is also a great city! Thanks Henning Wackerhage @P__Zimmer, David Walzik etc!

Physical inactivity ➡️Rapid accumulation of intracellular glycogen ➡️Reduced insulin sensitivity ➡️Lipids kept increasing from short to long-term bed rest ➡️Metabolic shift away from fatty acid toward glucose oxidation 👉🏽cell.com/cell-reports-m… via Cell Reports Medicine

Moritz Moritz Eggelbusch & Rob Wüst. vu.nl/nl/nieuws/2024…

Delighted to see our latest work on "The impact of bed rest on human skeletal muscle metabolism“ out in @cellrepmed! Thanks to DLR - English , European Space Agency, @nasa, Moritz Eggelbusch Braeden Charlton and all colleagues for the collaborative effort! doi.org/10.1016/j.xcrm…

Thank you to Rob Wüst Richie Goulding Moritz Eggelbusch and others for a warm reception Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (inactief). I knew I’d enjoy the science but didn’t expect walking on water to be on the agenda.

I am thrilled to share one of the first major works from my postdoc in Amsterdam, "Skeletal muscle mitochondrial fragmentation predicts age-associated decline in physical capacity", published online yesterday in Aging Cell onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ac…. A thread:

Cellular crosstalk in skeletal muscle? A surprising role for mast cells? Histamine as a signal transducer during exercise? This was an amazing ride during my time TeamDerave, now published in Cell Metabolism (1/11) UGent Geneeskunde & Gezondheidswetenschappen, FWO sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Pleased to announce I have been awarded €400,000 funding from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) for research on changes in skeletal muscle oxygen transport & utilization in ageing! Huge thanks to NWO Nieuws for supporting this work. Ellen Breedveld to perform the work in her PhD

Extremely excited to share the latest work from my postdoc in Amsterdam, just published in Diabetologia ! Skeletal muscle mitochondrial health in type 1 diabetes: the role of exercise capacity and lifestyle factors A thread 🧵 link.springer.com/article/10.100…
