#TakeoverDay saw students from ALNS Portsmouth take over the Mary Rose Museum, coming up with amazing ideas, from display cases for swivel gun shot to Christmas events and even blind-bag bears for the museum gift shop! #Museum30 - Career Kids in Museums

Day 22 of #Museum30 is on #Career. My career has had a few twists and turns, highs and lows. It really is true you can't predict where you will be and what you'll be doing. I feel very lucky and privileged to be back doing the museum work I love. #MuseumWork #HeritageSector

In the museum collection and gardens, we have a lot of #Organic things to feature. This one happens to have a little of both, a close up of pressed flowers from the Eldon House Botanical Books created in the 1810s. #Museum30

Day 23 of #Museum30 is #organic Did you know that organic compost along with making your garden as diverse as possible will really help to support earthworms? nhm.ac.uk/discover/news/…

#museum30 Last 12 Months I thought instead of the big things, I’d share the small joys from this year. Mushroom hunting, time with pets (and dog sitting), growing my own flowers and developing my pottery practice!

#museum30 - Day25 uncanny Sometimes you come across a small museum full of the best uncanny gems… this is just a small selection from Museum in the Park

#Museum30 Day 26: Handle. This is my favourite ancient Cypriot handle, featuring a little floppy-eared dog, on an ox askos (shown here on a lantern slide).

Day 26 of #Museum30 is #handle One of the more challenging parts of our work comes with handling the specimens. When we have to move or clean them we need to think about pesticides alongside the potential damage from movement. That means lots of PPE required!

#Museum30 Day 27 - Discovery I discovered a love for repetitive museum work during my placement photographing insects trapped within resin for a researcher Oxford University Museum of Natural History and now I get to spend lots of my day split between cleaning up data and researching interesting ceramics!

#museum30 - Day 28 Letter I love that letters can allow you into everyday lives, whether that's of historical figures or just your own ancestors. I used (copies of) my family letters and photographs in my A-level photography work exploring how the past and present weave together

#Museum30 day 28 - Hope For todays prompt I’ve gone with Claire Curneen’s incredible porcelain diorama that I was captivated by on a visit to the V&A earlier this year. I can only hope to one day make something a fraction so beautiful in my own pottery work.

#Museum30, final day and the prompt is 'Why Museums?' We asked our curator Cate this question and this is what she said. We hope you've enjoyed #Museum30 this year, thanks as always to Gracie Gracie Price for the prompts.

Why museums? Because we have stories to tell that are still crucial today for all kinds of different reasons. Because we don’t shout about the incredible work going on. Because we can be safe spaces in a turbulent world. Thank you ⁦Gracie Price⁩ #Museum30

#Museum30 Day 30! Why Museums? Because they are spaces for connection. Connecting to nature, to our past, to different viewpoints and as I’m reminded each year they let us connect over our love of heritage. Thank you to everyone who has taken part this year!
