New paper out! 🥳 How do we (humans) as rational managers control evolving biological systems? - In our paper, we adopt and formalize a mathematical framework “Stackelberg evolutionary game (SEG) theory”. We demonstrate how to use it in applications. 🧵 doi.org/10.1098/rstb.2…

Sunrise on day 1 in Phoenix. Looking forward to 3 fantastic days of cancer modelling at #MathOnc23! Excited to see some old faces and make new connections. Let's go!

Thanks Kristin R Swanson, PhD and Sandy Anderson and the rest of the organising team for #MathOnc23. What a pleasure to meet so many other cancer modellers and learn about their incredible work!

Research from Stuart McDonald's lab at BCI Queen Mary University of London has solved a longstanding mystery of how the liver creates new cells – knowledge vital to understanding how and why cell growth spirals out of control in cancer. 📰View the paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.jhep… 👇Or read below… 1/7

We have an opening for two post doc positions here in sunny London to work on the evolution of extra-chromosomal DNA in human cancers jobs.ac.uk/job/DBO406/pos… Join us Barts and The London, Queen Mary and become part of the fantastic cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/edynamic Cancer Grand Challenges

Together with Marius Moeller, Nathaniel MonPere and WeiniHuang we have a new manuscript out eLife - the journal : doi.org/10.7554/eLife.… We look at the dynamics of genetic diversification in healthy tissues using single cell and bulk sequencing information.

Really excited to share this new preprint! We have developed a somatic genetic clock to estimate the age of clonal organisms (e.g. plants) 🌱⏰🧬 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New preprint 🥳: "Selective sweep probabilites in spatially expanding populations" Why do beneficial mutations fixate only - if at all - in the very early stages of range expansions? Here, we use mathematical analysis to shed light into the dark. 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

This week I had the pleasure to attend #ECMTB2024 in Toledo. What an experience! Starting with the various and fantastic presentations, continuing with the amazing social events in breathtaking venues, and finishing with the privilege of presenting my work. Unforgettable days!

Had a fantastic week in beautiful Toledo for ECMTB 2024! Thanks to all of the organisers for the opportunity to present my recent work on ecDNA in human GBM, and for such a fun and well-organised conference. See you in 2026!

I am happy to share our new preprint led by two briliant junior researchers, Long Wang Long Wang and Christo Morison, on a gene-for-gene model in cancer immune coevolution. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our new preprint led by @eliscanu96 on modeling multiple genotypes/phenotypes of extra-chromosomal DNA is online. Glad that Elisa will continue to work on the application of her theoretical work on experimental and biological context. stay tuned! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Delighted that our new work is out now in pre-print. Want to know more about how extrachromosomal DNA shapes evolution and development of glioblastoma? We combined computational modelling with WGS, DNA-FISH and RNAscope to find out, yielding some unexpected results. Take a look!
