Last week, 2 researchers in #Biomechanics & #Mechanobiology from BCN MedTech @DTIC_UPF, supervised by myself & Miguel A. González Ballester, had their work recognised by the VPH Institute during the #VPH2022 - In both cases, work, rigour and creativity paid off! #ProudSupervisor 👇

1/ Another year at #MICCAI2022! this time presenting our work on Open Set Recognition (OSR) for histopathological image analysis. Joint work with Miguel A. González Ballester from BCN MedTech, Jakob Nikolas Kather, Narmin Ghaffari Laleh and Dr Katherine Hewitt from TU Dresden, & Gustavo Carneiro from Australian Institute for Machine Learning

2/ We aim at reducing labeling effort on huge histological images by avoiding the annotation of patches with irrelevant tissue. An OSR model can then reject that tissue as unknown in test time. Come ask me about the details in poster TV-5-PC30 right now!
