Respectfully, the ousted 17 ACIP members do not hold a monopoly of vaccine expertise in the US. There are thousands of relevant experts across the US. We need objectivity, not just credentials. The prior ACIP was a rubber stamp for desired CDC policy. Between Feb '23-Jun

Ousted ACIP members claim "recent changes to COVID-19 policy . . . bypassed evidence-based review process." But remember on 9/1/2022, when they approved the bivalent C19 vaccine, without clinical effectiveness data in humans (only mice!)? By a 13-1 margin?

Read behind paywall, auths are pathologists advocating return to more trad basic sci courses in pre-clinical yrs, when the trend is to integrate these concepts into "organ-based" clinical modules. The comments make it seem this is a dumbing down of med school. Its not.👇

Academics is hypercompetitive as well. It's just that the academic "game" isn't played on publicly visible fields or courts -- but the individual efforts of the students (and parents) are hidden from view.

Not so long ago, "shared decision-making", "patient empowerment", and "personalized medicine" were the trendy topics. Now it "draws criticism" from the self-proclaimed healthcare elite.

So after all the noise, new ACIP affirms RSV therapeutics, as would the old ACIP. Only difference was more scrutinizing discussion, which is necessary.

When myocarditis signal was found in 4/21, CDC/FDA had a dilemma: Downplay risk/impact of myocarditis to keep UNIVERSAL vax recs OR issue age/sex specific recs. Universal recs➡️mandates was the goal. So simple models were used to justify, w/ ACIP that did not ask questions.

We need to agree that total tuition is way inflated over value delivered. Beyond some fundamentals and specialty exploration, med school is basically a ticket to applying to the Match. Make schools compete to get tuition under $200k, and less than 3yrs long.

Does anyone believe that the *marginal* direct cost for a med school per student is >$200k ? Students will begin to favor cheaper options, instead of chasing more expensive schools that produce virtually the same outcome. There will be at least some downward pressure.

In their proposed rule, CMS will enact a 2.5% cut q3 yrs to "non-time based" services (surgery, diagnostics etc.), to account for efficiencies gained due to experience/ tech. A ridiculous concept intended only to devalue. What happened to rewarding "value" and efficiency?

Our findings show that hospitals allowed the organ procurement process to begin when patients showed signs of life, and this is horrifying. The organ procurement organizations that coordinate access to transplants will be held accountable. The entire system must be fixed to

The only thing worse then telling someone their loved one has met "brain death" criteria and has now passed, is having to go back to tell them "not yet". There can be, unfortunately, zones of ambiguity and variation in policy. HHS is right in studying and reforming.
