Reading list ready for Spring 2025! Grad seminar “Race, Aesthetics, Speculation” and undergrad class “Monsters, Haunting, and the Nation.” So much good spooky stuff! Johns Hopkins University Johns Hopkins Arts & Sciences

Look at this beautiful thematic brainstorm my students did for Michael Zapata’s gorgeous book, The Lost Book of Adana Moreau. (Not pictured, another board w/ time periods, character names, literary references, & geographies). It was an amazing conversation! Johns Hopkins Arts & Sciences

Teaching Gerardo Sámano Córdova’s Monstrilio for the first time (which I’m *loving*) and students came with their brilliance as always to brainstorm the major themes of the novel so far. This semester has been hard but engaging with these students is truly the best!

Tomorrow! Can’t wait to be in conversation with DREW DANIEL!!

My essay on Latinx speculative fictions is in this new edited volume. I'm so happy to be in such amazing company and grateful to Bill Orchard for all his work! Check out the discount code and great panel happening The Graduate Center this Friday!

I had the chance to interview Alvaro Enrigue about his novel, Tu sueño imperios han sido (You Dreamed of Empires), for the Novel Dialogue podcast. It was a great conversation! Check it out! noveldialogue.org/2025/06/05/9-6…
