So sad to hear this news. He taught us Delhi School and then I got to know him well in his role as the head of ASARC at ANU. A big loss to the Development Economics community in this country. Rest in peace.

"most of us liked having our own space, even if it was just a beige cubicle, and didn’t really want to hot desk in something that looked suspiciously like a soft play area designed for two-year-olds". Well well well..... theage.com.au/business/compa…

I have been an avid follower of Indian cricket since 1977 (the Tony Grieg series). Except for the 1983 (West Indies series) I can't remember Indian bowlers treated with this kind of disdain in home conditions consistently. It is as if India is playing away and England at home.

Link to a podcast based on this paper (mostly in Bengali). Thanks to Srinjoy at Coffee House Experience for organizing this informal discussion (or adda). Enjoyed talking about Indian elections, as another one is upon us. youtu.be/Mll6HUt6qSc?si…

The always fantastic Ben Groundwater writes: "The UK has been improving of late, thanks to a certain former colony’s embrace of coffee culture, though if you wander into a Costa or a Caffe Nero (or another of the UK’s many coffee chains), best of luck to you". Can't agree more!!!

Saw and heard the incessant boo-ing of Virat Kohli today at the MCG. Kohli is no saint but have everyone in this country forgotten that he was the one who essentially stopped the boo-ing of Stephen Smith post 2019? But it is easy to make Kohli the villain.
