A great pleasure to be given an opportunity present my work at #ecmm2024, which was an amazing conference. Thanks to all the organisers!

📣We’ll soon be advertising a 2-year postdoc on low-valent metal clusters in MOFs. The role involves extensive use of electron diffraction, with a strong synthesis and crystallography background required. Start: 1/25 or ASAP thereafter. Feel free to get in touch!📨 #MOFs #microED

Still almost two years away, but worth marking in your calendars: #ICCC46 in Odense, Denmark (Hans Chr. Andersen’s hometown). ICCC is arguably chemistry’s oldest major international conference.

📣New sub-Kelvin cool preprint❄️ chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi… A triangular Eu(II)-pyrazine net templated by large Ba2+. The ensuing frustration prevents entropy-annihilating magnetic order down to at least 0.17 K - a remarkably low working temperature for a magnetic refrigerant.🥶

A very successful week at European Synchrotron, using X-rays on ID12 and ID14 to probe valency in lanthanide-based magnetic materials synthesised in the Kasper S. Pedersen group DTU Chemistry, with PhD students Evgeniia Luneva, @xiyue27, and Anton Viborg.

PhD wages in Australia are absurdly low - well below minimum wage. In huge contrast to the wages for PhD students here in Denmark who are treated as full-time employees. A PhD is a full-time job and should be treated as such!

My AINSE Ltd. Postgraduate Research Award allowed me to undertake really exciting neutron science up at ANSTO with a great bunch of people (inc. Richard Mole) - I would strongly recommend the program to anyone interested!

#DEI is under attack, but the stakes are higher than many realize. Universities *must stand firm* in defending it. I lay out why in my latest piece for nature Silence is complicity. Without DEI, we fail our students, our research, and our future. nature.com/articles/d4158…
