That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz is a deeply moving novel about the power of music, home, community and the ocean. It's also an album - and Malachy Tallack will be reading and performing from both on the night! 🎤 eventbrite.co.uk/e/that-beautif…

Two acclaimed authors and musicians on one bill. The talented Malachy Tallack and Colin MacIntryre Mull Historical join forces for a session of words and music in London at The St Andrew’s Book Festival London. Join them for an unforgettable evening: standrewsbookfestival.org

Finished this one from Malachy Tallack a week or so ago and been thinking about it (and listening to the cracking album) ever since. As lyrical as George Mackay Brown and reminds me of Sara Baume's wonderful Spill Simmer Falter Wither in its character study too. Highly recommend!

That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz Malachy Tallack Canongate (has left) Set both in the Shetland of today and in decades past, Malachy's second novel is the story of a seemingly quiet life. A companion album of songs by the author features musicians he grew up with in the islands. 3/7

It's time for A Kick Up The Arts! I’m joined by writer / musician Malachy Tallack to chat about his book / LP, That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz (Canongate (has left)). It’s a psalm, a song, and a quiet meditation on love, loss, landscape, family and country music: akickupthearts.org

Canongate (has left) Malachy Tallack One of the gentlest, most harmonious novels I have read for a very long time. Almost ‘old fashioned’ in its unhurried narrations, with something about it of Lawrence, and of Mackay Brown, of the story-tellers of the islands.

I wanted to say more about this: how it is so gentle, how it just avoids sentimentality and the predictable; manages to avoid melodrama and overt politics, too. Simply, a very beautiful book. Very happy to recommend it here. Canongate (has left) Malachy Tallack
