A drug that unlocks the anti-inflammatory power of the immune system could help to reduce the risk of future heart attacks, according to research we’ve part funded presented at #ESCCongress Mallat_Lab Rouchelle Sriranjan Rothwell Cambridge University Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Medical Research Council NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre

Check out our last review on how we could utilise the #gutmicrobiota to modulate the adaptive immune response to treat #atherosclerosis. Just astonishing - these guys publish in Cell Metabolism that blocking CX3CL1/CX3CR1 is a novel approach for treating atherosclerosis, yet they fail to cite the seminal papers by Mallat_Lab Combadiere and Charo’s groups published back in 2003! Scientific integrity matters!

Well done to James O'Brien for his talk in his first international meeting at the European Atherosclerosis Society 2025 in Glasgow!
