Viruses aren't great but phages are actually useful. We see them as a treasure trove for genetic parts to power up our probiotic lactobacilli. Check out BMC how we found an overpowered promoter/repressor system for L. plantarum from a phage - doi.org/10.1186/s12934…

Engineering non-model probiotic bacteria can be challenging but eventually rewarding. In this study, we have tested multiple phage-derived repressors to end up with a nice story. Question to synthetic biologists working in Germany: which sequencing partner/company do you use for DNA sequencing? We are looking for an affordable and high quality option. Danke 🧬 #synbio #sequencing #DNA Varun Tadimarri Shrikrishnan Sankaran SOURIK DEY

Yesterday I had the pleasure to present the improved version of STRAIGHT-IN (v3.0) at #mSBW2024 in Boston. I was also glad to see some old colleagues and to meet new ones as well! Stay tuned for more 🧬

Meet PEARL! We encapsulated lactobacilli in alginate beads, and they are secreting recominant proteins like pros! 🧬🧫 If interested, take a look at our latest work on Engineered Living Materials here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

So you want to engineer your hiPSCs, but targeting DNA payloads requires multiple slow, inefficient steps for each construct. What if we could accomplish multi-site integration seamlessly? 🚨Introducing STRAIGHT-IN Dual! 🧵 (1/n) Link: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

🚨Preprint alert! Excited to share the latest work of my PhD on bioRxiv. STRAIGHT-IN Dual allows the generation of homogenous genetically-modified hiPSC populations 1) in one week, 2) with ~100% efficiency, 3) in a markerless, near-scarless approach and 4) with two payloads!🧵⬇️
