As a lawyer I was taught ‘power devolved is power retained’ (by Westminster). Now, as a government Minister, I see that in action every day as a Tory UKG eats away at our powers. UK constitution = ‘UK Parl. may make or unmake any law whatsoever’. Scotland must be independent.

What utterly fascinates me… …is the capacity of young women like Greta Thunberg or Meghan Markle to effortlessly trigger to meltdown the emotions of a certain type of 60-year-old-plus man. What’s going on there?

Retweet if you think big media channels have a responsibility, when women are dying every three days from misogyny and male violence, not to legitimise and embolden abusive misogynistic views. ITV should fire Jeremy Clarkson.

One of the most truly abhorrent columns I've ever read in a British newspaper, about a woman who had admitted feeling suicidal. Shame on Clarkson for writing it and @thesun for publishing it! Put in a formal complaint here: ipso.co.uk/complain/compl… theguardian.com/media/2022/dec…

Many of the replies to this are so vile and degrading that they simply serve to reinforce my view that voting yes was the right thing to do. Hatred and bigotry will never win. Love and solidarity will.

We were OVERWHELMED with your responses to this question last year. So many brilliant books recommended! So we're asking again, what was the best book by a woman that you read in 2022? 🤔

600,000 children go to private schools and two million kids go hungry. So tell me why we subsidise private school fees but not free school meals.

Last night I checked into the emergency department at my local hospital*. I saw firsthand what has happened to the NHS. However much you read, it doesn't prepare you for the terrible reality. This thread tells a now-ordinary but - in this rich nation - almost unbelievable story.

I know I've posted this before but..... Meet Simon Thompson, the C.E.O. of Royal Mail. He is paid £62,750 a month. Because its a struggle getting by on just £1,500 a day after tax, he also got a £140,000 bonus this year. Simon has cut posties pay in real terms.
