This is such a fun plate from soil isolations. A little bit of Bacillus mycoides made it onto a master plate. Notice how isolate C2 makes something that B. mycoides REALLY doesn't like! The curvature of inhibition is awesome.

I believe that there is a fundamental difference between “X is horrible” and “I don’t like X.” The former is absolutist. The latter is one’s opinion. And opinions are personal, not cosmic truths. We all seem drawn to absolutist rhetoric these days. It saddens me.

Welp, it is no mistake or quirk. I am allergic to something in the nose pads of these glasses. Itchy red streaks on either side of my nose.

Following the Tiny Earth protocol, some weird results. R2A medium. Swabbed Pseudomonas putida (1:50) onto plate. Challenged with various isolates. C2, MM1, H2 seem postiive. But what is with the "build up" at the edges of inhibition by C2 and MM1? Hmmm. Tiny Earth

I adore this art I commissioned from Kaitlin Reiss, now as a pin.  It's based on what Dean Martin said about Frank Sinatra:  "It's Frank's world; we just live in it."  #MicrobialCentricity

I’m writing up an application for an opportunity. It was never easy for me to say anything positive about myself, and it’s still difficult. I’m psychologically Amish, I think. But I need to try. I think I have skills and ideas to offer others. Opportunities will not come to me.
