It's Oil and Chip season for our Erie County DPW's crews! Oil and chipping, or chip sealing, involves applying a layer of emulsified asphalt followed by a layer of crushed stone. This pavement preservation method protects the surface, extends its lifespan, and improves traction.

Officer Didarul Islam represented the very best of New York. An immigrant from Bangladesh, he joined the NYPD to protect his city — and gave his life doing so. He leaves behind a wife, two young sons and a third child on the way. We hold his family in our prayers tonight.

2 weeks ago, I had to take a train from Philly to NYC that arrived at Penn Station about 3 AM. I walked down 8th Ave to eat at an all night McDonalds. At no time did I feel unsafe and I was lugging my suitcase. The only people who don't belong in our society are racists & bigots.
