A sea of chickpea pods at Southern Cross. Given the last rain fell in the first week of September the Wide rows are helping to keep the plants ticking over till they can set pods in this cool inland area

Monday was first day back in Esperance after work and holiday trips. Great to see that in my absence India Warren-Hicks knows how to run a fantastic vetch trial at Wittenoom Hills

Great morning spent with Dr Kristy Hobson NSWDPI and CBA chickpea breeder at the Wittenoom Hills breeding site. Kristy spotted fantastic pod setting in some of the lines. Not bad for July sowing. Avoid all the cold and doing their business in the warmer months!

Pulse Week - with chickpea and lentil prices in recent months being over $800/t and field pea and faba bean over $600/t it is a good time to consider if pulses have a fit on your WA farm.

Esperance HiRES team having a bunch of fun conducting canola root disease assessments. A lot of work to show plants are healthy!
