Brutal. McKinsey claims to be a climate leader but does opposite by pushing oil & gas interests as #COP28 advisor - including using scenarios completely opposite to International Energy Agency ones. McKinsey cannot claim to be #net zero leader. This goes completely against it. france24.com/en/live-news/2…

Seriously? This is what came out of my printer — 46 pages of legaleze — when I naively clicked the 'print your coupon' button for a one-day car rental with Hertz. There's something outta whack here

What's Wrong with this Picture (an ad in the The New York Times for 'direct air capture' company Climeworks)? The tagline suggests #DAC will make up for any shortfall in efforts to cut emissions: 'don't sweat it, we've got you covered'. It won't. We may need DAC but it's #nosilverbullet

A bracingly clear-eyed look at "a dangerously seductive approach to the problem: insisting that we can invest and innovate our way out of environmental disaster, while changing as little as possible about our way of life." #climate COP28 #UAE nytimes.com/2023/12/08/opi…

During a mining conference in Riyadh today Saudi’s energy minister Prince Abdulaziz talked about the solutions to address climate change that were part of the Cop28 agreement. He noted the solutions were like an ā€œa la carte menuā€ offering options for countries to choose from

🧵Here's a thread about an obscure economic theory from a century and a half ago, which is about to become a MASSIVE deal. āš”ļøIt helps explains why tackling climate change is going to be v v hard. Some say impossible. The story begins with this buildingšŸ‘‡

n.b. $38 trillion (w/ a 't') in *unavoidable* climate damages. Refreshingly, the study doesn't insult our intelligence by calculating how much *additional* damages could be avoided in a 1.5C scenario, looking at 2C instead. What's it going to take, folks?yahoo.com/news/climate-i….

How can you possibly write this story without even mentioning climate change, or that the record breaking water temperatures fueling monster hurricanes derive from oceans absorbing 90+% of excess heat generated by global warming? #NYTimes nytimes.com/2024/09/24/wea…

Alas, the time has come to say adieu to Twitter. As for all my Twitter friends and acquaintances, let’s reconvene in new pastures where the grass is greener and the sky is always Blue!
