“Instead of building, we have the opportunity to design.” Robotics expert Martin H. Pham, MD takes the stage at #2023CNS to discuss the advantages of using minimally invasive robotics to treat complex #spine conditions. #SpineSurgery #UCSDatCNS

That’s a wrap on #2023CNS! We had a wonderful time celebrating our chair Alexander Khalessi, MD, MBA becoming CNS president, cheering our national champions on to a three-peat at the Resident SANS Challenge, making new friends and more. Already looking forward to #2024CNS in Houston🚀.

Incredibly proud and excited to see Alexander Khalessi, MD, MBA lead the Congress — if it is anything like how he has led and advanced the shared goals of our department UC San Diego Neurological Surgery, I have no doubt this will be one of CNS’s best years ever 🌟

Congratulations to our latest #SubI class on their final presentations! They'll wrap their rotation with a sub-I-only spine lab tomorrow at Center for the Future of Surgery. Thank you again for the generous visiting grand rounds invite to talk on this topic (for an hour!) about how UC San Diego Neurological Surgery approaches some of these complex conditions minimally invasively. Glad to see old friends and connect with new ones!

Appreciate the Journal of Neurosurgery highlight! There certainly was a learning curve as early adopters of single-position lateral 2019-2022; glad to say our current protocols now continue to show equivalent accuracy compared to prone for those interested in SPS robotics. Thanks James Rutka Journal of Neurosurgery EIC of the JNSPG for highlighting our work on perc screw placement in the lateral position! Great working w Cathleen Kuo Nolan J. Brown MD, MBA Julian Gendreau Martin H. Pham, MD thejns.org/page/editors-c…

Congratulations to Drs. Joseph Osorio (Joseph Osorio, MD, PhD) and Martin Pham (@MartinPhamMD) who presented their latest work on personalized approaches for complex #spine conditions at the International Spinal Deformity Symposium earlier this month. #ISDS2023 #Deformity #Neurosurgery

I have enthusiasm for tech that can help surgeons be even better. PSRs rely on predictive algorithms to achieve alignment goals and reduce postop failures. While I use them with Joseph Osorio, MD, PhD UC San Diego Neurological Surgery, it is only one of many strategies that can ultimately influence outcomes.

The future of #neurosurgery is bright! We hosted an exciting #medstudent mixer with #UCSDNeuroSurg Sub-I Director Dr. Martin Pham (Martin H. Pham, MD) and Dr. Mickey Abraham (PGY-4)

Happy Match Day! We are thrilled to welcome Drs. Kathryn Becker (Kathryn Becker, MD, PhD) and Nikita Choudhary to the #UCSDNeuroSurg family! We look forward to their continued success UC San Diego and future contributions to our specialty. #Match2024

That’s a wrap on the second 2024 #UCSDNeuroSurg sub-I rotation! Sub-I's presented on topics including CT radiomics, brainstem metastases, treatment of hypertonia, scaffolding proteins in glioblastoma and spent a day in our spine lab (Center for the Future of Surgery) with the guidance of @MartinPhamMD

Another successful sub-I spine cadaver lab — freehand pedicle screw placement, laminectomies, facetectomies, and even got to pedicle subtraction. This applicant season is looking bright! UC San Diego Neurological Surgery Center for the Future of Surgery

Dr. Martin Pham (Martin H. Pham, MD) will be attending #2024CNS and will present on minimally invasive adult spinal deformity correction leveraging advanced lateral techniques and technologies! CNS UC San Diego School of Medicine
