Excited to be in conversation with Jason Read and madeline lane-mckinley 🍉🍉🍉 at this year's Red May Seattle festival about my new book "Fake Work." The schedule of panels and events is now live. redmayseattle.org

Thanks. Interesting review. It notes that Left readers may find my mentions of radical vegetarianism irksome. I agree. But I wish it had explored why. Why do so many Leftists, even those with good climate politics, find vegetarianism such a mood-killer? Real questions.

My first sighting of "Fake Work" out in the wild. I'll be doing my first Fake Event tomorrow, and then others throughout the month of June. I've been sitting with this book for 25 years, literally, and I'm so excited/anxious to see its reception.

It's here. It's queer. Thanks to Quinn Slobodian and Melinda Cooper for the endorsements. And thanks to Haymarket Books for being a fantastic press to work with. And to capitalism, its millennial articulations in particular, for the humor.

Scholarly publishing advice for academics and cats, from the [email protected] in today's The Chronicle of Higher Education ; I actually did start "Marx for Cats," as a video series; it's still up, too, at vimeo.com/marxforcats

just wrote this line: "it's rare for a novelist to be a one-book wonder." pretty sure it's accurate but does anyone want to object?

When will the Obamas show up in NYC to empathize with hopes of a radical politics while telling Democrats not only is it just not possible but it might actually be destructive and it's better to watch their Netflix series?

"Fake Work" gets great write up today's The New York Times as "superbly committed to its own beliefs — truthful, dryly funny and often subtly moving." Haymarket Books nytimes.com/2025/06/16/boo…

A must-read for your ecologically conscious hamburger eater. A stocking stuffer for your "pasture-raised" enthusiast. A necessary riposte to your "cage-free" colleagues. For all who like hormone-free milk or would sooner shoot themselves in the foot than eat foie gras.
