Great to catch up with the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Bruce Billson and Queensland Small Business Commissioner Dominique Lamb in Melbourne this morning. Lots on the agenda for Australian small and family businesses at the moment.

Cold Gippsland morning calls for a hot coffee. Thanks Fozigobble cafe in Yarragon. If you’re heading back to Melbourne today there’s lots of great places to stop along the way.

This is an awful story to hear but unfortunately not an isolated one when I talk to small business owners about the increasing stress and pressure they face, and especially in more recent times. Tasmanian cafe owner issues plea to ā€˜horrible’ customers. news.com.au/finance/busine…

Simon Crean was a great Australian. He was a proud Victorian. He understood and supported our regions, and that support extended beyond his parliamentary career. It is a privilege to have known him. This is very sad news. smh.com.au/politics/feder…

With Mary Aldred helping out and meeting the amazing volunteers at Baw Baw Food Relief this morning. They do amazing work for many Australians who are doing it tough at the moment.

On behalf of the Monash electorate, congratulations to Megan Vuillermin of Sandy Point, and the Rev Dr Jim Connelly of Warragul on being awarded King’s Birthday Honours. Both of them are dedicated community people. They make us all proud.

Good to speak with Craig Bush on ABC Gippsland re Bendigo Bank’s proposed closure of Korumburra branch & my efforts to keep it open. A senate inquiry dealing with regional bank closures made its report 2 years ago - still waiting for Fed Govt to act on any of the recommendations

It was an enormous honour to be sworn into the 48th Parliament as the Member for Monash. It’s a big week ahead and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running on behalf of my local community.
