A “largest” R01 is now capped at 575k/year incl 15% indirect. NIH CUTS total 4 BILLION dollars/year So that SHOULD mean 7000 more grants/yr? Twice the current # of R01s. BUT THEN WHY NOT MENTION in the NIH statement? BECAUSE THE PLAN IS JUST TO CUT, NOT TO DO MORE RESEARCH.

St. Jude Research (@stjuderesearch) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Cuts in NIH research grants will have a lasting negative impact on science and medicine in the U.S. Grants will continue to fund specific research costs, but essential infrastructure like labs, advanced equipment and support staff are crucial for groundbreaking work.

How Ironic that on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Woman's portraits have been taken down at NIH and Women is a forbidden word that if found in your NSF grant could get it revoked. #womeninstem

I was asked recently (for an internal Moffitt blog) why social media is important for science. My response: “Twitter/X has long been a helpful boost, allowing me to share scientific results not only with colleagues, but crucially, also with members of the public. It’s important

Just spent 30 hours reviewing for an NIH study section set for Thurs—now postponed indefinitely. 20 other scientists did the same X multiple sections. Huge waste of time, resources, and funding, with real costs for science and economy. Donald J. Trump admin is bad for everyone.
