I stand in full solidarity with the people of Afghanistan after the devastating earthquake that hit the country earlier today. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured. The United Nations team in Afghanistan is mobilized
In Dara-e-Noor's Sutan village, families mourn children and loved ones lost, and homes destroyed in the Nangarhar earthquake. UNDP Afghanistan is on the ground, planning recovery. We will stay and deliver, alongside the Afghan people.
The devastating earthquakes in eastern #Afghanistan destroyed and damaged nearly 6,000 homes forcing families to stay outside in unsafe, makeshift conditions – without privacy and exposed to the elements. United Nations and partners are out distributing emergency tents & essential NFIs.⛺️
