We saw the opposite of “boring and stiff” in Boris. That didn’t work well. I don’t want my PM to be particularly ‘interesting’.

How the Reform UK manifesto compares with the other main parties👇 It’s… big. Albeit not as big as the Greens. NB what the bars show you is “money out” of Exchequer, eg spending rises/tax cuts - to give you a sense of comparative scale. More 📈 on Sky News in coming hours

In February 2024, 1 in 4 patients between the ages of 70-79 waited 12+ hours in A&E, for the 80-89 group this was closer to 1 in 3, and for 90+ it was 1 in 3 via Royal College of Emergency Medicine #ResuscitateEmergencyCare bit.ly/OlderPeopleED2… 📷

⬇️Overlapping surgery…. Excellent thread by Louella Arguably the key issue …..it increases productivity for an individual surgeon but not the system …..and it’s the system that there is a desire to ‘fix’. It may be used in private practice to boost income for some surgeons

As is common in ICU studies (& medicine in general)… correcting a deficit is usually beneficial but topping up to excess (ie supernormal) is not helpful and sometimes harmful.

The fact there’s a “winter crisis” every year should be a source of shame for politicians and NHS leaders. It reflects a recurrent failure to plan, invest, and address root causes of hospital and ED crowding, in the face of societal, demographic and health trends. Royal College of Emergency Medicine 1/8
