The victims and their families have been horrifically impacted by the infected blood scandal. I'm pleased that the Government is now providing full compensation, and welcome the appointment of Sir Robert Francis to oversee the process.

I'm proud to leave Parliament as a Conservative MP after two decades serving my country in opposition and in government. I wish Rishi and all my colleagues all the best in the campaign to come.

It’s amazing to see how far we've come. Just 5 years ago, when I was Health Sec, I first saw this tech being developed at the QEH in Birmingham. Fast forward to today, and the first patient has received a personalised vaccine against bowel cancer at that same wonderful hospital.

This is great news. An AI-driven blood test capable of predicting Parkinson's years before symptoms, will make huge improvements to early diagnosis and treatment. This is just the beginning—AI in health tech will continue to revolutionise care.

David Minns' last request to me as his MP was to tell his story so others don't have to suffer like he did. Sadly, the law didn't change in time for David, but it could be changed in time to help countless others. Listen to his story 👇 👇 linkedin.com/posts/matthanc…

As a former Health Secretary, I have thought hard about the Assisted Dying Bill. I have changed my mind on this and urge MPs to back the bill independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

I’m delighted MPs have voted decisively in favour of changing the law on Assisted Dying to allow people with terminal illness to die with dignity. This is a major liberal reform to alleviate suffering at the end of life.
