Glorious day for a 5-mile run around The Mall. Pro tip for conferences: be sure to take a little time off from sessions for a wellness activity! 🏃 #IDWeek2022

With baseline 430,000 diarrheal deaths/year in sun-Saharan Africa (mainly in kids under 5), a 1 degree C increase in temperature increases deaths by 8%, resulting in 34,400 additional deaths per year. Modest changes in temp will have large impacts on child health. #IDWeek2022

Great talk from NPR’s Joe Palca about communicating science to the media. Not always easy to predict what stories will become big news. #SHEA2018

Really interesting closing plenary about how to communicate and advocate effectively with elected officials. Key is building relationships (with both politicians and their legislative assts) and telling personal stories. #SHEA2018
