Great to take part in a really interesting panel discussion on neural engineering chaired by Prof. Lopez Valdes in TCBE today, showing the synergy that materials science, neuroscience and tissue engineering can have in our research! RCSI TERG AMBER

Great to have our first in person #PPI panel meeting on our IRFUCharitableTrust AMBER #spinalcordinjury project since before the pandemic. Thanks to everyone on the panel but especially Eimear Smith Ciaran McCarthy and Michelle Flood & Pádraig Carroll (Ó’Cearbhaill) for organizing.

Fantastic to take part as usual, and well worth the wait to be back in person! Great to hear from clinicians and injured players about what really matters in spinal cord research. Thanks to all for organising, and to the other participants for sharing fascinating insights!

Calling all lab-based spinal cord researchers and doctors treating spinal injuries! I’d like hear your views on patient and public involvement (PPI) in research-no previous experience required. Contact [email protected] if interested. More details: bit.ly/3IDR4wY

Great to be here at the AMBER Conference in Limerick, with all of the fantastic researchers that make AMBER such a productive and exciting place to work! #amberconf2023

The prettiest neurons at the ball - delighted that this image of primary cortical neurons, isolated and imaged by @tarakatemcguire, growing under electrical stimulation on our collagen-graphene composite, won the image competition at #AMBERConf23! RCSI TERG AMBER

Congratulations once more to Jack Maughan and Cian O' Connor on winning the RCSI Research Day 2024 Image Competition with this beautiful image, 'Gilded Scaffolds' 🤩

Between presenting my poster and seeing my and Cian O' Connor's image around the place all day, RCSI Research Day was a great success! Fantastic showing from TERG researchers, and as always, productive and fascinating conversations.

Also, communicating to other scientists is one thing, but communicating to the next generation is key! Delighted last week to deliver two workshops (in cranntcd and RCSI TERG) for TY students as part of the AMBER TY programme - I swear the tomatoes were relevant!

Great range of prizes for the TERG team!🏆 I'm absolutely delighted to have won the Best Poster prize in the Health Theme at this year's AMBER conference - extra honoured when seeing the quality of all of the research on display across the day 🎉

If you're curious what would happen if you gave me unfettered access to a stick-man maker, swing by for my Pint of Science talk about 2D materials and neural interfaces next Monday @ 19:30 in Kennedy's! Free tickets are available here bit.ly/pintofscience- 🍺🧪#PintofScience

Some very out of context slides from my #PintofScience talk on Monday 🍺🧪 Such a fun event to be a part of, and I had (as you can maybe tell) a great time preparing for and presenting it! Thanks to all who came along, now I should probably get back to my non-stickman work 😪

Thrilled to see this paper published! It's the culmination of the fantastic work of Liam Leahy, and marks a great advancement in our research into electrical stimulation, custom scaffold design, and neural tissue engineering. Delighted to have been a part of this!

Delighted that I'll be presenting at Materials Research Society in Boston, this Thursday at 9AM! If you're here in Boston, come and hear about my work in graphene-based microelectrode arrays for neural interfacing, or drop me a DM to meet or chat online! #F24MRS
