That is an interesting view I received today: “In an American bank, the seniors care more about narrative than merit. Therefore, they withhold information so that they can use their information and your knowledge to please their bosses.” Lol. Culture, what?

Large corporates spend more time dealing with internal problems (e.g., incessant restructuring) than going after external market opportunities (e.g., new product development) The amount of time, energy, and mind-share that goes into these org restructurings are insane.

Do not confuse effort with results. When we try to speed up the outcome, our lack of patience undoes the result. Results are accumulated in drops but lost in buckets. Make sure you’re not undoing the things you’re trying to accomplish.
