How realistic is the offer of tax cuts? How can that happen without serious damage to already parlous public services or loading us with more unaffordable borrowing? Cut tax to stimulate growth? We saw how that went.

Caroline Lucas, "Someone has to call out the fact that one of the reasons we are much poorer now is because of Brexit" "Let's put that on the table and talk about what we're going to do about it. Instead of this conspiracy of silence"

On schools, Sunak seems strangely unaware that 70% of schools in England have less funding in real terms than in 2010 - nothing in his speech to reverse this terrible situation, pay teachers properly and fix crumbling buildings

A long night and early morning in south Kerry was worth the effort to see three White Prominents, a species once considered extinct in Ireland until they were refound in 2008. Thanks to Lorcan McDonnell for his expertise and Dara Fitzpatrick for sharing the experience.

This road verge outside my friend's house, is just stunning. #dontmow If people mowing their verges would only do so every 4-6 weeks, instead of weekly, the country-side would look so much the better for it.

A country should be stable enough to withstand a corrupt government Ministers should not have the power to cripple a health service, public broadcasters, sewage systems, education and justice systems It should not be possible to wipe out centuries of progress in one parliament!

Impossible to listen to @bbcr4today promoting the lie that we are throwing more money at the NHS and getting less. The NHS has had 14 years of below-inflation rises - that is, real-term cuts. Also, money is wasted going to the profits of private firms rather than to patients.

Lots of people wondering why physician associates &other non-doctors being introduced in huge numbers to the NHS. It’s because politicians are destroying the NHS, deskilling the workforce & creating a 2nd rate service which people only use if they can’t afford private care.

I remember the look of sadness in my mums eyes when, as a child, she told me she couldn’t afford to buy me a coat. We have never had a Prime Minister so out of touch

Everything that Labour ought to stand for - but doesn't - is in the Green Party manifesto. My column. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Remember when being a nurse was a proper decent job?… You could comfortably bring up your family on the salary It was respected by everyone including politicians and our media No need for foodbanks or killing yourself with over time! I grieve for what the Tories have taken!
