NOW: House Republicans are pushing an amendment to the state budget that would rip health care away from vulnerable Marylanders, including kids — at a time when Trump’s White House is cutting access to health care in the state. This is not responsible governing.

Responsible governing is hard but MD House Dems have a balanced plan to keep Maryland strong.

MD Democrats: let’s cut/keep taxes the same for 94% of Marylanders, invest in our workforce, and encourage growth by reducing spending more than any budget in 16 years. MD Republicans: what if we take healthcare from kids, stop funding schools, and stiff public servants instead?

Today, Republicans tried to strip funding for pre-k programs, students with disabilities, and healthcare services for the elderly, pregnant women, and children. We fought back because MD House Dems will not balance the budget on the backs of our most vulnerable citizens.

Today, the minority party tried to cut funding that keeps our roads and bridges safe. House Dems stood strong, backing a budget that ensures our transportation network stays secure and reliable.

The Republican response to the difficult compromises MD House Democrats made to balance our budget, set a path to fiscal health, and preserve critical investments? … “LEAVE.” Just abandon Maryland and leave. (!?!) Sorry but we don’t give up and walk away from the hard challenges.

A responsible budget = a stronger Maryland. We’re balancing the budget while protecting investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and our workforce. We won’t wait to protect our state from the reckless actions of the Trump administration. We’re taking action NOW.
