Who are the health authorities answerable to? The clear answer is "nobody." There's no excuse for this, to say nothing of the overall ER disaster. Acute care in BC costs ~$15B. There's one reason that ER staffing has consistently been a problem: it's not a priority.

Mark Roseman You are exactly right. What we have in HC is a serious accountability crisis. As an administrator/ER manager Iโ€™ve lived it & seen it for 50 years. #Publichealthcare #Patients #Care #Canada #Dyingtobeseen

There is nothing an ER colleague can't handover to me. An LP, an intubation - nothing is too much. My colleague worked hard and did their best. I take immediate ownership and create the least amount of pain. I listen, jot notes and respect that my colleague is done. CAEP

Oh and donโ€™t forget brave Kaitlin Stockton speaking up for staff and patients suffering dangerous ER conditions. I donโ€™t know the answers there but I bet she does. The BC government needs to listen to doctors and patients right now and make whatever changes possible to get quick,
