As inquiry after inquiry has shown, there are systemic patient safety risks in the private hospital sector. Using the private sector to treat greater volumes of patients without addressing these risks knowingly puts patients at risk of harm.

By increasing use of the private sector Ministers are knowingly exposing patients to increased risk of harm. Ministers have now been told this by civil servants - the only response has been to axe NHSE and defund ICBs which are there to monitor the private sector's contracts.
