Impactful words by Carolyn Bertozzi today on how diversity in her trainees enabled creativity, not playing by the rules, and ultimately the work that built the field of bioorthogonal chemistry. Diverse science leads to better science!

PhDs: If a high-visibility job (professor, data scientist, etc.) doesn't feel like it's for you, that's a GOOD THING. It means you're tuning in to what you want instead of the "shoulds." Know yourself well to find strong person/job fit. When fit isn't there, it's OK to say *no*.

academia attracts so many brilliant yet deeply wounded people. i wish we as a profession didn't enable & encourage their toxic behavior. theory can't heal, nor external validation. i hate how the study of so much i find beautiful is done by people who hurt others so much.
