Methane-Predict is a 4 yr Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Ministry for Primary Industries funded project lead by Teagasc and AgResearch aiming to develop high throughput predictors for large capacity screening of methane emitting ruminant livestock at an individual and system level #NZIREAgriPartnership

Another busy day on the Methane-Predict project in Teagasc . 48 bullocks, undergoing methane measurements, rumen sampled. These samples, along with others collected in Ireland and AgResearch, will be used to validate the rumen microbiome as a proxy for methane emissions!

Sampling preparations underway for the latest Methane-Predict rumen sampling run. 80 sucklers, having their methane emissions estimated, will be sampled to try identify rumen 🦠s associated with high and low methane output at grass! Teagasc Colin Byrne
