We are sadden by the news of Steuart Bedford’s passing. Recognised as one of the leading Britten experts, it was a privilege to have Steuart conducted our production of Albert Herring back in 2017. Steuart Bedford 1939 - 2021 #RIP

I will never forget playing for Steuart’s Albert Herring rehearsals The Grange Festival in 2017. His mind wandered sometimes and the ball bouncing lessons were comic but his grasp of the music was truly extraordinary. His mother had taken part in the original premiere.

#OTD in 1875 Bizet’s Carmen premiered Opéra-Comique in Paris. We featured Carmen directed by Annabel Arden and designed by Joanna Parker during our inaugural season back in 2017.
